Lazio are reportedly leaning towards accepting an offer from Wolves for Christos Mandas, while Southampton remain in the running for the goalkeeper’s services.

The Biancocelesti signed the 22-year-old last summer from OFI Crete for just €900,000 and are now set to register a handsome profit. The Greek made a positive impression when called upon to fill in for the injured Ivan Provedel during the final few months of the previous campaign.

Nevertheless, the Italian remains the club’s first choice between the sticks, so selling Mandas this summer presents a lucrative opportunity for the Biancocelesti.

Lazio Could Accept Wolves Offer for Mandas

In recent days, Wolverhampton have emerged as the goalkeeper’s most keen admirers. The English side reportedly presented Lazio with an offer of €20 million. According to Greek football journalist Giannis Chorianopoulos, the Italian capital side is considering accepting the bid. The source notes that OFI Crete would receive 15% of the sum as a sell-on fee.

Moreover, Il Corriere dello Sport (via La Lazio Siamo Noi) believes that the talks between Lazio and Wolves are ongoing. The Roman newspaper reveals that Portuguese super-agent Jorge Mendes has been the driving force behind the operation which has been in the works for 20-30 days, but another week could be needed to find a definitive solution.

Southampton Still Lurking

Nevertheless, Southampton remain in the hunt. The source claims the Saints could tempt the shot-stopper by offering him the starting role he’s craving.

Mandas is tied to Lazio with a contract lasting until 2028. The custodian made his senior international debut last June, and it remains his only cap for Greece to date.
