Lazio will reportedly add their youngster Fabio Ruggeri to the package offered to Salernitana for the services of Boulaye Dia.

The Biancocelesti are on the cusp of signing the Senegalese striker, having reached an agreement with the Granata as well as the player’s entourage. Lazio sporting director Angelo Fabiani was the one who brought the 27-year-old to Salerno in 2022.

The attacker enjoyed a brilliant first campaign at the Arechi, but things turned sour for the club last season, culminating in a relegation to the second division. Dia’s rapport with the fanbase has also reached an all-time low, and some Salernitana ultras even chased his car following his controversial goal celebration in a recent Coppa Italia tie.

Lazio Insert Ruggeri in Dia Operation

According to Italian football journalist Gianluca Di Marzio, the two clubs have agreed to add a young Lazio player to the operation. However, the transfer guru reveals a last-ditch change in the identity of the youngster. While Diego Gonzalez was initially set to head to Salerno, he was now been replaced by Ruggeri.

The 19-year-old is a versatile defender who has been developing his game at Lazio’s youth ranks since 2019 after launching his career at Savio. The Roman has been featuring for the club’s Primavera squad but has yet to make an appearance with the first team. He will be hoping to find space among the seniors at Salernitana who will play their football in Serie B this season.
