Lazio Exile Agrees to Join Greek Side Panserraikos

Lazio full-back Mohamed Fares has reportedly accepted an offer from Panserraikos. The 28-year-old will thus complete a transfer to Greece in the coming days.

The French-Algerian spent his formative years at Bordeaux and Hellas Verona before getting his breakthrough at SPAL. This earned him a switch to the Italian capital side in 2020, but between injuries and a lack of form, Fares never truly made it at Lazio.

He had loan spells at Torino, Genoa and most recently Brescia, and has been an outcast at Formello since his return to the club in the summer. But according to Il Corriere dello Sport (via LazioNews24), Fares has finally found himself a new club, albeit a temporary one.

Fares to Complete Loan Move from Lazio to Panserraikos

The Roman newspaper claims the Algerian international has agreed to join Panserraikos on a dry loan that doesn’t include an option or an obligation to buy.

Panserraikos is a club based in Serres, Central Macedonia. While they do play in the Greek top flight, they aren’t considered among the elite in the country.

Nevertheless, Lazio will be hoping that Fares manages to impress during his time in Greece, as it would facilitate a permanent exit next summer. His contract with Lazio runs until June 2026.

  1. I have a feeling he will do well, that if he stays injury free mostly.

Good luck Fares, I know there is a player deep there you’re just unlucky with the injuries, you deserve a chance to prove your worth. Get in
