Lazio Star Rewarded With Maiden Argentina Call-up

Following his brilliant display on the opening matchday of the Serie A campaign, Lazio striker Taty Castellanos has received his first call-up from Argentina.

The 25-year-old joined the Biancocelesti last season but initially struggled for playing time under Maurizio Sarri who favored former club captain and all-time goal-scorer Ciro Immobile. The former Girona man saw his situation improve following Igor Tudor’s appointment in March, but has now finally cemented himself as the ultimate first choice at the club with Immobile gone.

Castellanos produced a stellar display against Venezia on the opening round of the Serie A season, and was named Man of the Match on most accounts. He scored a timely equalizer after picking the defender’s pocket and then won the spot kick that allowed Mattia Zaccagni to put the Biancocelesti in the lead en route to a 3-1 victory.

Castellanos Receives Argentina Call-up

Therefore, the Lazio bomber has been swiftly rewarded with his maiden call-up for the Argentine national team. Lionel Scaloni decided to add Castellanos to his star-studded attacking ranks which includes Inter Milan captain Lautaro Martinez, new Atletico Madrid star Julian Alvarez and Juventus-bound winger Nicolas Gonzalez.

In their next two World Cup qualifiers, the Albiceleste will host Chile on September 5th before traveling to take on Colombia five days later.
