Promising German Midfielder Lands on Lazio Shortlist

Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder Rocco Reitz has become the latest name to be linked with a move to Lazio.

The Biancocelesti are still looking to bolster the middle of the park with one more addition. Napoli wantaway Michael Folorunsho remains the most likely candidate to join, while Southampton’s Carlos Alcaraz is also on Sporting Director Angelo Fabiani’s shortlist, as is Feyenoord teenager Antoni Milambo.

But according to Il Messaggero (via La Lazio Siamo Noi), the Aquile are also monitoring Reitz, a 22-year-old midfielder who rose through the ranks of ‘Gladbach.

Lazio Add Rocco Reitz to Midfield Shortlist

The Germany U21 starlet is a dynamic player who can feature in various roles across the middle of the park. Last season, he contributed with six goals and three assists in 37 appearances across all competitions.

The young man’s exploits earned him a call-up to the senior German national team last summer but hasn’t yet made his debut. The Duisburg native is tied to the Monchengladbach with a contract valid until June 2028. The Bundesliga outfit valued the midfielder at circa €10 million.

So it remains to be seen if Lazio will accelerate their attempts on this front, or turn their attention towards alternative tracks like Folorunsho or Alcaraz.

  1. If we get two, I’m cool with Folo and Cherky: if we only get one, Cherky is the absolute pick for me. Strong ball carrier, technically gifted, finishing, creative, has some burst in him, excellent vision and I can continue.

But I do like both, they are just different. Maroni although did train Folo, I think how dynamic and creative Cherky is should get the nod. But again, any midfielder that leaves will make room for 2 signings so yeah… thoughts?
