Celtic Make Offer to Sign Danish Lazio Winger

The future of Lazio winger Gustav Isaksen remains unclear as Celtic are reportedly trying to lure him to Scotland.

The 23-year-old joined the Biancocelesti a year ago, completing a permanent move from Midtjylland for circa €12 million. Slowly but surely, the Dane carved himself an important role in Maurizio Sarri’s plans. However, his fortunes turned south when the Italian manager was replaced by Igor Tudor who considered him inapt to his tactical scheme.

This summer, Isaksen has been trying to gain back his starting berth by proving his worth to Marco Baroni, but the Lazio boss is currently favouring club captain Mattia Zaccagni and new signings Tijjani Noslin and Loum Tchaouna on the flanks.

Nevertheless, the Denmark international remains in the coach’s plans, and managed to score a consolation goal last weekend in the 1-2 defeat in Udine.

Celtic Looking to Sign Isaksen on Loan

But according to La Repubblica (via LazioNews24), the winger could end up leaving the club before the end of the summer transfer session, as Celtic have come forward with an offer. The Glasgow-based giants are hoping to sign Isaksen on loan with an obligation to buy at the end of the season.

The source adds that the Biancocelesti are reflecting on the offer. Lazio must trim their squad if they were to add more newcomers to the fold, as their senior list is currently filled. The priority of the management is to offload the likes of Toma Basic and Jean Akpa Akpro, but selling a more prominent player like Isaksen could be an alternative solution to ponder.
