Bologna Prepare Onslaught for Lazio Defender

Bologna are reportedly working on a late-summer swoop for Lazio defender Nicolo Casale who is considered far from untouchable at Marco Baroni’s court.

The Hellas Verona youth product joined the Biancocelesti in the summer of 2022 and is tied to a contract valid until June 2027. However, his most recent displays left much to be desired, especially his disappointing outing against Udinese last weekend.

Therefore, Lazio would be willing to offload the 26-year-old for the right offer.

Bologna Interested in Signing Casale from Lazio

According to Italian journalist Alfredo Pedullà, Bologna could try to seize the opportunity and launch an onslaught on the Lazio centre-back.

The Champions League new boys are seeking a replacement for Riccardo Calafiori, and Casale is one of the profiles they’ve been tracking recently. The source expects Bologna to accelerate their attempts to sign the Italian defender now that we’ve reached the final days of the summer transfer session.

In the meantime, Lazio are on the trail of Marseille defender Samuel Gigot. Hence, selling Casale would boost the Aquile’s chances of signing the French defender who would arrive as a direct replacement. Baroni’s other choices at the back are Alessio Romagnoli, Patric and Mario Gila who missed the first two rounds of the season through injury.
