Lazio Accept Fiorentina Offer for Unhappy Midfielder

Lazio stalwart Danilo Cataldi is set to finalize a deadline-day transfer to Fiorentina. The two clubs have reached a full agreement, and the player is on his way to Florence.

The 30-year-old was born and raised in Rome. He’s a lifelong Biancocelesti supporter who joined the club as a mere child and climbed his way up the youth ranks, eventually becoming a member of the first team.

Nevertheless, the captain’s armband caused a rift between the player and the management. Following Ciro Immobile’s departure, many senior players believed Cataldi was the ideal profile to inherit the role, but the club directors instead handed it to Mattia Zaccagni. Moreover, the unhappy midfielder hasn’t been able to earn minutes under Marco Baroni’s watch.

Fiorentina Secure the Signing of Lazio Midfielder Cataldi

Therefore, Fiorentina has now offered Cataldi an escape rope. According to Italian journalist Alfredo Pedullà, Lazio have accepted Fiorentina’s offer for the Italian midfielder. The Roman will thus sign for the Viola on loan with an option to buy at the end of the season for €5 million. The transfer market expert reveals that the two clubs are exchanging documents.

Sky Sport Italia journalist Gianluca Di Marzio also confirms the story. He reports that Cataldi to Fiorentina is indeed a done deal. The defensive midfielder still has a contract with Lazio valid until June 2027.
