Lazio In Talks With Free Agent Turkey International

Lazio are reportedly trying to acquire the services of Turkish midfielder Yusuf Yazici who is currently a Free Agent after leaving Lille at the end of last season.

The 27-year-old is a Turkiye international who rose through the ranks of his hometown club Trabzonspor. Curiously, the attacking midfielder was linked with a move to Lazio back in 2019 when the Italian capital side thought they could lose Sergej Milinkovic-Savic. Nevertheless, the latter remained at Formello, while Yazici signed for Lille.

The Trabzon native was on the French club’s books for the last five years but has been without a club since July. For their part, Lazio have been searching the market for a new midfielder but fell short in their quest on deadline day. They were heavily linked with Michael Folorunsho among others, but failed to reach an agreement with Napoli over the formula and figures.

Lazio Looking to Sign Yazici on Free Transfer

But although the transfer window has already shut in Italy, Serie A clubs can still sign players on free transfers. So according to Turkish journalist Ekrem Konur, the Biancocelesti are in talks with Yazici’s entourage, as they’re hoping to add the player to Marco Baroni’s ranks.

While Lazio have yet to find an agreement with the player’s representatives, Konur believes the talks have been positive thus far; L’Equipe is also reporting the same story. The journalist also reveals that Olympiakos are equally interested in the midfielder.

Yazici primarily plays as an attacking midfielder but can also operate on the right flank as an inverted winger, or even as a striker.
