Lazio are reportedly willing to find a solution that allows Luca Pellegrini to complete his transfer to Galatasaray.
The Istanbul-based giants are fishing for a left-back in Italy in the final hours before the closure of the transfer session in Turkey. The Lions have recently identified Roma’s Nicola Zalewski as their priority target. However, they failed to secure an agreement for the 22-year-old Pole, reveals La Lazio Siamo Noi.
Therefore, Pellegrini’s candidacy remains alive. The source adds that Lazio don’t consider the Italian untouchable since he isn’t a regular starter in Marco Baroni’s plans; the club can simply replace him by reinstating Elseid Hysaj who’s currently off the squad list.
How Galatasaray Can Sign Lazio Full-Back Pellegrini
Nevertheless, Pellegrini remains on loan from Juventus, while Lazio have the obligation to buy him for €4 million at the end of the season. But as the report explains, this shouldn’t pose a problem in the negotiations between the Italian capital side and their Turkish counterparts.
Lazio can simply waive this contractual stipulation in favour of Galatasaray. In other words, the Turkish champions would be able to directly purchase the player’s contract from Juventus. This would relieve Lazio from their obligation to buy the 25-year-old for €4 million, in addition to saving a similar figure which represents the player’s gross salary.
However, the source reveals that Galatasaray’s representatives aren’t in Rome solely for Pellegrini, but they’re also keeping an eye on other Serie A left-backs, mainly Napoli veteran Mario Rui and Milan outcast Fodé Ballo-Touré. The next few hours should be decisive on this front.
