Lazio have already started the procedure to renew the contract of Adam Marusic who is now one of the few remaining senators at the club following the summer revamp.

The 31-year-old has been a loyal servant to the cause since joining the Italian capital side in the summer of 2017. The Montenegrin originally plays at right-back, but he can also feature on the left when required, as was the case in the first two rounds of the season.

However, Marusic is currently running on an expiring contract, and management would loathe to lose his services for free.

Lazio & Marusic Working on New Contract

According to Il Corriere dello Sport (via La Lazio Siamo Noi), President Claudio Lotito has already held a meeting with the player’s agent, Uros Jankovic, declaring his intention to keep the veteran at Formello beyond the current campaign.

The source thus expects new summits to take place in the coming weeks and months, where the two parties would delve more into the details of their new agreement. The full-back currently earns €2.2 million euros per year.

The Roman newspaper reveals how several suitors expressed their interest in Marusic in recent weeks. This includes clubs from Turkey and the Saudi Pro League. Even Napoli wanted to add him to Antonio Conte’s squad, claims the report.

The Montenegro international would be free to sign a pre-agreement with a new club in the winter since he’s running on an expiring deal. However, the source insists that the player shares Lazio’s desire to extend their collaboration. The 31-year-old would even be willing to spend the rest of his career serving the Biancocelesti cause.
