Samuel Gigot will have to wait a bit longer to make his Lazio debut after picking up a shoulder injury during training.
The 30-year-old completed a deadline-day switch from Olympique Marseille to the Biancocelesti, replacing Nicolo Casale who joined Bologna on loan with an obligation to buy. The Frenchman was left out of last weekend’s squad as he was still working on regaining his fitness.
Lazio Defender Gigot Sustains Shoulder Injury
The 30-year-old was perhaps hoping to make his Lazio bow this weekend against Fiorentina, but his hopes were dashed by an injury. The club confirmed the news through a statement posted on its official website.
The medical staff of SS Lazio announces that the footballer Samuel Gigot underwent clinical and instrumental tests today at the Villa Mafalda Clinic.
The tests revealed a rupture of the left shoulder following a trauma suffered during yesterday’s training. The footballer has already started the suitable treatment and will be subjected to daily clinical monitoring.
While the official note didn’t provide a timetable for the player’s return to action, LazioNews24 expects him to be out of action for a couple of weeks. So in addition to Sunday’s contest in Florence, Gigot will likely skip the Europa League opener against Dynamo Kyiv next Wednesday in Hamburg, as well as the ensuing Serie A encounter against Torino the following weekend.
