Lazio suffered their second defeat on the road in as many attempts this season, as Fiorentina rallied from behind to earn their first win of the campaign.

First Half: Fiorentina 0-1 Lazio

Marco Baroni had to do without his main striker Taty Castellanos, so he resorted to Tijjani Noslin to lead the line, supported by Mattia Zaccagni, Boulaye Dia and Gustav Isaksen. In the middle of the park, Gaetano Castrovilli and Danilo Cataldi started against their respective former clubs following their summer transfers.

The two sides traded blows in the early going, but it was the visitors who opened the scoring at the Artemio Franchi in the 40th minute. Nuno Tavares picked up Mario Gila with a powerful and precise freekick, so the Spaniard only had to direct his header past the hapless David De Gea.

Second Half: Fiorentina 2-1 Lazio

However, the home side turned the result upside-down after the break following the introduction of Albert Gudmundsson.

The Icelandic star enjoyed a dream debut for his new club. He immediately won Fiorentina a spot-kick after being clipped inside the box by Matteo Guendouzi, and the former Genoa man sent Ivan Provedel the wrong way to level the score.

Afterwards, Moise Kean had a few opportunities to put the Viola in the lead, while Guendouzi’s shot hit the post.

The score remained 1-1 until the final minutes when Tavares clipped Dodo on the byline to grant the hosts a second penalty following a VAR review. Gudmundsson stepped up again, this time smashing his shot in the middle.

In the end, the debutant’s brace secured Raffaele Palladino his first victory in the Fiorentina dugout, while Marco Baroni’s men returned home empty-handed.
