After scoring his first goal of the season, Mario Gila was named the best Lazio player on the pitch in the team’s losing effort against Fiorentina at the Artemio Franchi Stadium.
The Spaniard opened the scoring after rising above his maker to direct Nuno Tavares’ freekick towards goal with a towering past, leaving David De Gea with no chance. However, the Viola managed to earn a come-from-behind victory thanks to Albert Gudmundsson’s debut brace, albeit in controversial fashion.
Gila Named Best Lazio Player Against Fiorentina
Nevertheless, Gila still earned plaudits for his display, with both La Gazzetta dello Sport and Il Messaggero (via LazioNews24) naming him the Man of the Match for Lazio with a 7/10 rating. For his part, Tavares was enjoying another brilliant display but lost points for giving away a later spot-kick for clipping Dodo.
On the other hand, the players who came off the bench failed to impress, thus receiving relatively low marks. This includes Loum Tchaouna and Adam Marusic.
