Lazio have received an important boost as their main striker Taty Castellanos has made his return to training just in time to receive a call-up for their Europa League opener against Dynamo Kyiv.
The Argentine enjoyed a stellar start to the new campaign, grabbing three goals in the first four Serie A rounds. However, the 25-year-old picked up a muscular injury during the win over Hellas Verona, which ruled him out of last weekend’s trip to Florence.
Therefore, Marco Baroni had to rely on Tijjani Noslin upfront, but the latter failed to produce the goods as Fiorentina prevailed by two goals to one, albeit in a controversial fashion.
Taty Castellanos to Make the Trip for Europa League Opener
According to Il Corriere dello Sport, Castellanos has resumed training alongside his teammates so he will earn a call-up for Lazio’s first Europa League contest of the season. The Biancocelesti will take on Dynamo Kyiv in Hamburg on Wednesday.
Nevertheless, the Roman newspaper doesn’t expect the former Girona man to start the match. Baroni could instead deploy him in the final minutes of the match, allowing him to gain some playing time, paving the way for a possible return to the starting lineup in the weekend clash against Torino.
On the other hand, the source reveals that Samuel Gigot is still training separately, so he will remain in the Italian capital while his teammates fly to Germany. The French defender sustained a shoulder injury in training last week.
