Lazio boss Marco Baroni will introduce several changes to his starting lineup once more for the upcoming UEFA Europa League clash against OGC Nice.
The Biancocelesti manager has been fielding his strongest lineup in Serie A while using the European competition as a means to grant other players more playing time. This strategy paid dividends over the past few days, with the club registering a convincing 3-0 victory over Dynamo Kyiv last Wednesday while preserving fresh legs for the Serie A contest against Torino. Baroni’s men prevailed by three goals to two, thus registering their first league victory away from him this season.
According to La Lazio Siamo Noi, the Italian capital side will continue to adopt this mantra when they host Nice at the Stadio Olimpico on Thursday for the second matchday of the Europa League group stage.
Lazio Lineup Could Feature Six Changes For Europa League Contest
Ivan Provedel will maintain his spot in goal, while Adam Marusic and Luca Pellegrini take the full-back slots. Alessio Romagnoli and the returning Patric will be vying for a spot alongside Mario Gila at the heart of the backline. The source also expects Nicolo Rovella to be rested, making way for a midfield duo consisting of Matteo Guendouzi and Matias Vecino.
The report also tips Taty Castellanos to preserve his spot up front, but he will have a different supporting cast. Loum Tchaouna, Fisayo Dele-Bashiru and Pedro could get another chance after delivering the goods in Hamburg last week, thus keeping Gustav Isaksen, Boulaye Dia and Mattia Zaccagni on the bench.
Lazio (4-2-3-1): Provedel, Marusic, Gila, Romagnoli, Pellegrini; Guendouzi, Vecino; Tchaouna, Dele-Bashiru, Pedro; Castellanos.
I would change “keeping them on the bench” with “giving them time to rest/recover”.
Anyhow, Mandas maybe shouldn’t be omitted too often though, we don’t wanna rub him the wrong way…
I like what Baroni is doing, trusting the bench players is good for the squad.
Something that Sarri didn’t really do..
Yap, however in Sarris defence he never got the players he asked for whereas Baroni, regardless what he asked has never had this mich quality (even with us losing Pipe, Ciro and Mago in the same summer)
