Lotito Brags About In-Form Lazio Star: ”They Mocked Me When I Called Him a Phenom”

With Taty Castellanos enjoying a splendid start to the season, Lazio president Claudio Lotito took the opportunity to remind the naysayers of a past statement that earned him some backlash.

The 26-year-old joined the Biancocelesti in the summer of 2023, but had a slow start to life in the Italian capital, with Maurizio Sarri deploying him as an understudy for former club captain Ciro Immobile. The Argentine eventually became a starter following Igor Tudor’s appointment in March, producing mixed results.

But this season, Castellanos has managed to take his game up a notch under the guidance of Marco Baroni, proving to be a capable replacement for Immobile who signed for Besiktas in the summer. The former Girona man has thus far scored five goals and produced two assists in his seven outings across all competitions.

Lotito Gloats about Previous Castellanos Prediction

For his part, Lotito seldom shies away from making an “I told so” statement. Therefore, the Lazio patron bragged about how he was well aware of the striker’s prowess while others were quick to ridicule him, reports Il Messaggera (via La Lazio Siamo Noi).

They mocked me when I said that Castellanos was a phenom. So what do they have to say now?!

Castellanos is tied to a contract with the Biancocelesti until the summer of 2028. He has also become an Argentina international player, making his debut for the world champions last month.
