Lazio have announced that their full-back Manuel Lazzari has suffered a mid-grade muscle injury during the weekend clash against Empoli. The 30-year-old picked up the knock during the first half of the encounter that ended 2-1 in favor of the Biancocelesti. He left his place on the pitch for Adam Marusic.

The Italian underwent tests to reveal the extent of the injury, and the results detected a medium-grade injury in the left thigh, confirms the note posted on the club’s official website.

The medical staff of SS Lazio announces that Manuel Lazzari underwent clinical and instrumental tests today at the Villa Mafalda Clinic. The tests revealed a medium-grade muscle injury to the rectus femoris of the left thigh, sustained during the last match against Empoli.

The official statement didn’t offer a timetable for the full-back’s return to action, only mentioning that his condition will monitored on a daily basis.

The player has already started specific treatment for the case and will be subjected to daily clinical monitoring. Further instrumental tests will be repeated in the coming days to determine the recovery times.

Lazzari has been plying his trade at Lazio since making the move from SPAL in 2019. He was a key player in Simone Inzaghi’s 3-5-2 system, but had his ups and downs during Maurizio Sarri’s reign. Nevertheless, he’s been a regular starter in Marco Baroni’s lineup since the start of the season.
