Lazio have received an important boost ahead of Saturday’s clash against Juventus, as Matias Vecino resumed training with his teammates at Formello.

The Uruguayan suffered slight muscle fatigue following the Europa League victory over OGC Nice. Therefore, he skipped the Serie A contest against Empoli which was the club’s last fixture before the international. The stop thus allowed the 33-year-old the recover his fitness and return to action without missing too many commitments.

According to La Lazio Siamo Noi, Vecino has recovered from his issue and has managed to train at a high pace along with his teammates who remained at home during the international break. Therefore, the former Fiorentina and Inter man will receive a call-up for the weekend trip to Turin.

Lazio Recover Vecino for Juventus Showdown

Marco Baroni will thus be able to rely on his services in the big showdown against Juventus at the Allianz Stadium, while Manuel Lazzari remains the only absentee. The Italian right-back could be on the sidelines for around a month after suffering a muscle injury during the victory over Empoli.

Nevertheless, Vecino’s return will be an important boost for the middle of the park, even if Nicolo Rovella and Matteo Guendouzi remain the first options to start in the double pivot. The Uruguayan made four appearances in Serie A this season, but only one as a starter.
