Lazio full-back Adam Marusic is proud to cement himself as a stalwart at the club, as he’s currently in his eighth campaign at Formello.

The 32-year-old joined the Biancocelesti in the summer of 2017, completing a transfer from Belgian side KV Oostende. Since then, the Montenegrin has been a loyal servant to the cause, filling in either on the right or the left flank, depending on the team’s needs.

Adam Marusic Glad to be a Lazio Stalwart

In his interview with the club’s official channel (via La Lazio Siamo Noi) ahead of Lazio vs Genoa, Marusic expressed his delight to be part of the club for all these years.

There’s no secret for my longevity. I simply give everything I have every day to this club.

With every coach, I have managed to improve, I try to give everything in every training session and in every match.

280 appearances is a really important feat. I am proud of it. It is my eighth year here, and I hope to be able to play many more.

Attention Switches From FC Twente to Genoa

Marusic believes beating FC Twente in their most recent UEFA Europa League outing was a substantial result, before turning his attention to Sunday’s Serie A contest against Genoa.

The victory against Twente was fundamental for us, the third win in the Europa League and now we have a few days to prepare for Genoa.

It will be a difficult match, against a team that is not doing well in the standings at the moment. We are playing at home in front of our fans and we want to give them another victory.

The Nuno Tavares Effect

The Montenegro international heaped praise on his new Lazio teammate Nuno Tavares who has been a true revelation in Serie A.

I had heard of Nuno in the past, but I had never seen him in action before. He is an excellent player, who has already made five assists. I think he will deliver many more brilliant displays.

Rome Is Home for the Montenegro International

Finally, Marusic revealed he considers the city of Rome as his adopted home.

After so many years, I feel at home here. I am only an hour away from Belgrade by plane. I have friends who come to visit me here, as well as my family. My girlfriend and I, with our little girl, really enjoy Rome and I think we will stay here for many years to come.
