Lazio stalwart Alessio Romagnoli expressed his great joy after donning the captain’s armband in the team’s victory over Cagliari.
The 29-year-old started his career at Roma, but never hid his great passion for the Aquile. So following a memorable spell at Milan, he finally realized his dream by completing a free transfer to his beloved club in the summer of 2022.
Romagnoli Realizes Another Lazio Dream
With club captain Mattia Zaccagni starting on the bench in Monday’s Serie A fixture, and club veteran Patric missing out, Marco Baroni handed the armband to Romagnoli who was ecstatic with this honor as he revealed in his post-match interview with Lazio Style Channel (via La Lazio Siamo Noi).
Wearing the captain’s armband evokes great emotions. It’s what I’ve always dreamed of. I’m also happy that we won. It was a very difficult match, they are a tough team. But we had the right approach, we kept pushing, so it was a well-deserved victory.
Porto & Monza Incoming
The Biancocelesti are riding high at the moment, but Romagnoli urges the team to take it one step at a time as they prepare to clash heads with Porto in the Europa League and then Monza in the final Serie A fixture before the international break.
We have two beautiful but difficult matches awaiting us. So let’s think one at a time. It will be essential to do well in the Europa League and then close this cycle of matches on a high note.
