Lazio are reportedly following young Stade Reims midfielder Valentin Antangana Edoa as they look to reinforce their ranks in January.
The Biancocelesti are enjoying have been enjoying a splendid campaign thus far. They won 10 out of their last 11 matches in all competitions, and are currently riding a six-match winning streak. Nevertheless, the meager midfield department remains a source of concern for the club.
Lack of Midfield Depth
Matteo Guendouzi and Nicolo Rovella are Marco Baroni’s main options in the double pivot, but Matias Vecino is the only one who presented himself as a competent backup. On the other hand, Fisayo Dele-Bashiru and Gaetano Castrovilli both seem to be more comfortable when interpreting a more advanced role. Moreover, the latter is still enduring tough times with injuries.
Lazio Keeping Tabs on Valentin Antangana
The lack of depth becomes even more evident when the coach switches from his usual 4-2-3-1 formation to a 4-3-3 system. So according to Solo Lazio, Claudio Lotito and Angelo Fabiani are planning to act in January, and they have already set their sights on Antangana.
Already a Pillar at Reims
The 19-year-old is a Cameroon native who rose through the ranks at Stade Reims and has now become an omnipresent figure in the senior squad, starting in all 11 of his club’s Ligue 1 outings thus far this season. The France U19 starlet is tied to a contract with Reims until June 2027. He usually operates as a box-to-box midfielder in Luke Elsner’s 4-3-3 system.
