Lazio are reportedly preparing to sit at the table with the agent of Michael Folorunsho, as a transfer to the Italian capital could be on the cards again.
Folorunsho’s Old Lazio Ties
The 26-year-old spent three of his formative years with the Biancocelesti before embarking on different career chapters. The midfielder has been on Napoli’s books since 2019, but spent the past five campaigns on loan at various clubs, before finally making a name for himself in Serie A at Hellas Verona under the guidance of Marco Baroni.
Botched Summer Transfer
Hence, Lazio were keen to bring Folorunsho back to Formello last summer, but couldn’t find an agreement with Napoli. And despite penning a new contract with the Partenopei in the summer, he has been a mere benchwarmer at Antonio Conte’s court, only making three Serie A appearances off the bench.
Rekindled Interest
But according to Il Messaggero (via La Lazio Siamo Noi), the Aquile could reignite their interest in their former player ahead of the January transfer session, as Baroni’s squad still lacks a midfielder. Gaetano Castrovilli has been struggling with physical problems, while Fisayo Dele-Bashiru hasn’t convinced in the double pivot.
Lazio Preparing Meeting with the Agent of Michael Folorunsho
The source claims Lazio have scheduled a meeting with agent Mario Giuffredi who also represents Mattia Zaccagni and Elseid Hysaj over the next few weeks. The report is certain that Folorunsho’s future will be one of the topics of discussion.
The newspaper considers the Italian as an ideal profile for the role due to his rapport with Baroni, in addition to his youth-product status, which would allow the club to register him on the list without having to drop another player.
I think Dele Bashirus last appearance was actually great. And before that too. I hope the lad has patience and Baroni I am convinced will give him more time.
What I don’t understand (but I don’t wanna criticise him because he is young ) is why he doesn’t want to do the pivot role? He is so attack minded that he doesn’t realise that he can only improve himself by doing it. If he can be a good CAM, believe me, with his frame he could handle that role too but it’s too much to do without the ball and too defensive for someone who wants to be protagonist with the action up front.
My advice: talk with Guondozi and Rovella and steal from their craft. The better you become at it, you will learn to appreciate it. Look at Camavinga like the best example.
Come on Dele Bashiruuuuu 💙
