Lazio are reportedly among four Italian clubs tracking Tigre youngster Santiago Gonzalez, as they look to bolster their midfield ranks in January.
Born & Raised in Tigre
The 21-year-old is a Tigre native who started his career at his hometown club and climbed his way up the ranks to become a member of the first team in January. This season, the midfielder has so far made 18 appearances in the Argentine top flight, contributing with a single goal and an assist.
Lazio Enter the Race for Santiago Gonzalez
According to La Gazzetta dello Sport (via Calciomercato), Gonzalez has attracted great interest from Serie A, as Lazio, Fiorentina, Venezia and Bologna are all keeping tabs on the youngster. The Argentine’s contract with Tigre is only valid until December 2025, so he could be available in January at a relatively low price.
Michael Folorunsho Still the Main Target
However, Gonzalez isn’t necessarily Lazio’s first choice for the midfield department. As the source explains, the Biancocelesti have rekindled their interest in Napoli benchwarmer Michael Folorunsho after failing to land the 26-year-old in the summer. Marco Baroni would certainly relish the prospect of reuniting with his old Reggina and Hellas Verona pupil
Warren Bondo Represents Another Option
The same report also mentions young Monza midfielder Warren Bondo as another alternative. The 21-year-old has been plying his trade with the Biancorossi since 2022, and is now a regular starter in Alessandro Nesta’s lineup.
