Lazio are reportedly facing competition from Milan who have now entered the fray for Monza youngster Warren Bondo.

The Background

The 21-year-old is a French midfielder of Congolese origins. He started his career at AS Nancy before being poached by Monza in the summer of 2022 on a free transfer. The Évry native had a brief spell at Reggina before returning to the Brianza side in 2023 and gradually establishing himself as a true pillar at the club. This season, he has been a regular feature in Alessandro Nesta’s lineup, making 12 appearances in Serie A.

Lazio Following Warren Bondo

In previous weeks, Bondo has been linked with a potential move to Lazio who might resort to the market in January in search of a new midfielder. This particular department remains thin, especially amidst Gaetano Castrovilli’s physical problems. Moreover, there remain some question marks over Fisayo Dele-Bashiru’s ability to interpret a deeper role in the middle of the park.

Milan Enter the Fray

However, Lazio isn’t the only top Serie A side to set its sights on the Monza up-and-comer. According to La Gazzetta dello Sport and Il Corriere dello Sport (via Calciomercato), Milan are also keeping an eye on the France U20 starlet. The player’s contract with the Biancorossi is valid until June 2027.

Monza’s Relegation Fears

Therefore, it remains to be seen if a bidding war will ensue in January for Bondo’s services. Nevertheless, Monza would probably want to maintain their starting midfielder until the end of the season, with the shadows of relegation looming over the U-Power Stadium. They currently sit 19th in the Serie A table, with only nine points in the bag.
