Lazio were reportedly irritated by the behavior of Samuel Gigot who caused a stir during Saturday’s 1-1 draw against Atalanta.

Lazio Unhappy with Controversial Samuel Gigot Behavior

According to Il Messaggero (via La Lazio Siamo Noi), the 31-year-old rebelled against Marco Baroni’s instructions when asked to warm up during the second half. This unprofessional attitude irked the head coach and even prompted the intervention of the club’s sporting director Angelo Fabiani who went down from the stands to ‘scold’ the Frenchman.

Reaction Awaited

The newspaper now expects a positive reaction from the player in the coming days, otherwise, the club could decide to take action on the market and bring in a new centre-back as a replacement. The source mentions Empoli’s out-of-contract stalwart Ardian Ismajli who has been linked with the Biancocelesti as of late.

Transfer from Marseille

Gigot completed a deadline-day transfer to Lazio last summer after being omitted from Roberto De Zerbi’s plans at Olympique Marseille. He arrived as a replacement for Nicolo Casale who signed for Bologna on the same day. The Avignon native joined the Italian capital side on loan with an obligation to buy at the end of the season.

Season Stats

The French defender has thus far made six appearances in Serie A, scoring a single goal in the process, but all of his outings came off the bench. Nevertheless, he earned five starting outings between the Europa League and the Coppa Italia.
