Three Lazio players were selected in TuttoMercato’s Serie A Team of the Week as Marco Baroni’s men rooted Monza by five goals to one.
Lazio Dismantle Monza
The Biancocelesti ended a four-match skid at home by earning a big result at the expense of their Lombardian visitors who decided to sack their manager Salvatore Bocchetti after the contest and recall Lazio legend Alessandro Nesta.
Pedro Out, Castellanos In
Pedro was one of the main stars of the show as he scored a brace after coming off the bench to replace the injured Boualye Dia. Nevertheless, the Spanish veteran was shunned by TMW who didn’t include him in their Best XI for the 24th matchday, but three of his teammates got the nod, beginning with Taty Castellanos.
Taty Castellanos Delivers MOTM Performance
The Argentine was the ultimate best player on the pitch, providing two brilliant assists for the first two goals before scoring the third himself. He joins a star-studded attack that also includes Atalanta bomber Mateo Retegui who solidified his lead in the Capocannoniere charts with a super hattrick against Hellas Verona, and Randal Kolo Muani who led Juventus towards a labored win in Como.
Adam Marusic & Nuno Tavares Selected
Lazio also dominated the full-back slots, with Adam Marusic (the author of the opener against Monza) and Nuno Tavares joining Sebastiano Luperto and Jaka Bijol at the back, while Christian Pulisic made the cut following his influential display for AC Milan in Empoli.
Serie A Team of the Week
Serie A Best XI (4-2-4): Skorupski (Bologna), Marusic (Lazio), Luperto (Cagliari), Bijol (Udinese), Tavares (Lazio); Ekkelekamp (Udinese), De Roon (Atalanta); Pulisic (Milan), Castellanos (Lazio), Retegui (Atalanta), Kolo Muani (Juventus).
Looks like marrusic is getting better and better with age…he was shit last season but has improved now…big ups
Everybody was shit last season 😂 except for Gila and Guendouzi.
This will be fuel for Taty, he will want to be in every best 11 from now on, I’m happy.
Marusic will have a confidence boost, maybe he will now realise how good he can be( a bit of a late career revival, not often seen 👏🏻
Last but not the least Nuno… even without assist he is there, man is doing something well and I like it. Keep your head down and your contributions will increase.
Pedro…we love you 🩵🤍
Forza Lazio!
