After firing blanks against Venezia and Inter Milan, Marco Baroni will opt for a new striking pair this weekend against AC Milan.
No Taty, No Goals
The Biancocelesti are without their most influential centre-forward Taty Castellanos who picked up an injury a couple of weeks ago against Napoli. The Argentine has been sorely missed, as his teammates haven’t been able to make up for his absence.
Failed Experiments
Last weekend in Venezia, Baroni decided to field Tijjani Noslin upfront, supported by Boulaye Dia. However, the Dutchman was hauled off early in the second half after an anonymous showing. The coach then experimented with Loum Tchaouna, fielding the Frencher winger as a striker in the Coppa Italia quarter-final against Inter Milan, but the result was similar.
So after a disappointing draw in Serie A and an elimination from the cup, Baroni has decided to try his luck with another combination in the hopes of ending the worrying drought. According to La Gazzetta dello Sport (via LazioNews24), the 61-year-old has identified Pedro as the answer.
Boulaye Dia & Pedro to Lead the Line for Lazio vs Milan
Hence, the veteran Spaniard should start as an attacking midfielder in Sunday’s big Serie A showdown, while Dia spearheads the charge. The Senegalese has been operating in the hole since the start of the campaign, with Baroni appreciating clever plays and timely runs to the box.
Nevertheless, Dia is a striker by trade, so this shouldn’t be a dramatic change for him by any means. The 28-year-old scored his first goal for Lazio in the thrilling 2-2 draw against the Rossoneri in August, so he’ll be looking to replicate his exploits in the reverse fixture.
Finally Baroni realised that up front other then Taty only Dia can cover so that should’ve been in Venice and Dele Bashiru supporting him so REDA could have played when Rovella was out. Now he is forced to put Dia there coz both Noslin and Loum disappointed as CF.
I feel this will benefit the goalscoring so let’s see. Noslin should cover Zaccagni and Loum cover Isaksen.
Ps: Ibrahimovic seems to have a very good use of his own body. I know we only saw about 15 minutes of him but I think he is confident on the ball and has very very good switching direction, low centre gravity use is smart for a 19 year old and maybe he has venom too but there is no time for experimenting.
Come on lads, bring home the victory on Sunday🩵🤍🦅
