Lazio are reportedly aiming to sell Nuno Tavares in the summer, which should be good news for Arsenal.

The Italian capital club signed the 25-year-old last summer on loan from the Gunners with an obligation to buy for €6 million. The Biancocelesti will be happy to activate this clause, as this transfer fee is considered a bargain price given the player’s impact at the Stadio Olimpico, especially during the first half of the season, when he produced eight assists in as many outings.

However, the Portuguese’ early moment has been halted by recurring muscle problems. Tavares left the pitch in tears in the second leg clash against Bodo/Glimt after sustaining his seventh injury of the season. He had just returned from a previous stoppage.

Lazio Planning to Sell Nuno Tavares

According to Il Messaggero (via La Lazio Siamo Noi), the Aquile are now convinced that selling Tavares would be the most reasonable decision at this stage. Hence, Lazio’s sporting director, Angelo Baroni, has reportedly instructed intermediaries to find the player a buyer. The left-back has been linked with several top clubs, including Juventus, Inter Milan, AC Milan and Chelsea.

Arsenal Poised for Financial Boost

The source adds that Lazio’s asking price is in the region of €40 million. Meanwhile, Arsenal will be keeping a close eye on the situation, as their agreement with the Serie A club includes a 40% sell-on fee. Hence, Tavares’ sale would hand the North Londoners a sizable financial boost.
