Lazio legend Sergej Milinkovic-Savic still has another year left on his Al-Hilal contract, but is reportedly available at an affordable price.
Sergej Milinkovic-Savic’s Unforgettable Lazio Spell
The 30-year-old spent eight years with the Biancocelesti, cementing himself as a bona fide club icon. The Serbian made 341 appearances for the Italian capital side, scoring 69 goals and producing 58 assists.
The Inevitable Departure
Throughout his time at the Stadio Olimpico, the midfielder was often linked with a host of European giants, including Juventus and Manchester United, but he opted to stay at Lazio until the summer of 2023, when the club decided to cash in on his services, selling him to Al-Hilal for €40 million.
Al-Hilal Set Asking Price for Sergej Milinkovic-Savic
According to Calciomercato, the Saudi Pro League giants consider Milinkovic-Savic a key player, but he’s not necessarily ‘untouchable’. Hence, Al-Hilal would be willing to consider a sale if they receive an offer in the region of €22-23 million.
This would be deemed a decent proposal given that the player’s contract will expire in June 2026. Therefore, it remains to be seen if a return to Europe will materialize this summer.
Lazio Return ‘Talks’
The source also reveals an interesting background that reportedly occurred in January. It is claimed that there were ‘talks’ regarding a possible return to Lazio fueled by some intermediaries, but it eventually proved fruitless. At this stage, the Biancocelesti are focusing on lowering the average age of the squad, as well as the wage bill, so Milinkovic-Savic’s return remains unlikely.
Rovella Guondozi SMS
Can we live to see this? I think we can be title contenders with this midfield.
People forgot but when he left, SMS was arguably top 3 midfielder in Serie A.
I will fully support the return of SMS, he is one of the best signings in Lazio history. He is a player with very high quality, I prefer him to any new signings in the last year.
