Lazio are reportedly attempting to bring Maurizio Sarri back to the club as Marco Baroni edges closer to the exit door.

Marco Baroni Destined to Leave Lazio?

Not so long ago, Baroni’s position was supposedly safe, with the management preparing to tie him down to a new contract. However, a disappointing finish to the season blemished what started as a promising managerial tenure, so most sources expect the two parties to part ways following a decisive summit that will take place this week.

A Plethora of Candidates Emerge

Hence, Lazio president Claudio Lotito and sporting director Angelo Fabiani are already searching for a new tactician, and the list of candidates mentioned in the Italian press is growing larger by the hour. The Biancocelesti have been linked with Patrick Vieira, Miroslav Kose, Thiago Motta, Sergio Conceicao, Alberto Gilardino, Francesco Farioli and Gennaro Gattuso, among others.

Lazio Plotting to Bring Back Maurizio Sarri

Nevertheless, Il Messaggero (via La Lazio Siamo Noi) claims that Sarri represents the most realistic option. The 66-year-old was in charge of Lazio between the summer of 2021 and March 2024 when he resigned from his post due to some unrest in the dressing room. He has been on the shelf ever since.

The source reveals that Fabiani has already met the former Napoli, Chelsea and Juventus manager three times over the last few months, seemingly laying the groundwork for a possible return.

Why Sarri Could Be Open for Lazio Return

Despite leaving the club under unpleasant circumstances, the report believes Sarri would be willing to return to Formello now that the ‘rebellious senators’ who rose against him are gone, in a reference to the likes of Luis Alberto, Ciro Immobile and Felipe Anderson.

Moreover, the manager’s return could convince some of his old favorites, like Matteo Guendouzi and Alessio Romagnoli, to stay for the upcoming campaign.

  1. Personally I would like Sarri back so if De Zerbi and Italiano aren’t available, Sarri clearly is the best.

  2. If they are going elsewhere then go elsewhere. Don’t bring sarri back. His stuipid 4 3 3 formation. Keep Baroni he had one season. See what he can do next year and if it stays the same let him go halfway through the season. At the same time Lotito should be held responsible bc he failed to make the squad any stronger at that January transfer window.

    1. Baroni very basic play to stay in sierr a that is it can not go further baroni stick with same formation and afraid of using new signing made team depending on olders
With rovella and Reda in middle plus back mandas rominglli gila Lazio could beat every team
      Sell Ghandouzi
      Patrick vacino
      Pedro
      Provedal

  3. This would be the most stupid thing to do…how the FUCK would u bring Sarri back? If baroni wants to go, let him go and get a good manager who would qualify us for champions league..
