Lazio stalwart Alessio Romagnoli has reportedly said his farewells at Formello, as he appears destined to leave the club in the summer.

The Background

The 30-year-old is a lifelong Biancocelesti supporter who realized his dream by signing for his beloved club in the summer of 2022. The defender accepted a salary of €3 million per year, although he could have netted double in the Premier League.

The Famously Broken Promise

At the time, Romagnoli was promised a salary increase in case of a Champions League qualification. But despite finishing the 2022/23 campaign in a remarkable second place, Claudio Lotito and Co. never kept their word. The player confirmed his dissatisfaction with the situation in his interview following the 1-1 draw against Juventus earlier this month.

In recent weeks, there have been talks over a slight salary adjustment, but as Il Messaggero (via Calciomercato) notes, this possibility is now off the table, especially with Lazio failing to book a place in any European competition after finishing 7th in the Serie A table.

Alessio Romagnoli Destined to Leave Lazio

So with his pay rise promise now in tatters, Romagnoli realised that the time has come to leave Formello. Hence, the source claims that the former Milan captain bid his Lazio teammates farewell in the locker room after the final contest of the season against Lecce.

What Will the Future Hold for Alessio Romagnoli

The report claims the Italian centre-back has some offers in the Premier League, as well as rich suitors in the Saudi Pro League who will try to sway him through lucrative bids.

  1. This is so wrong… Securing good players who WANT to play for Lazio with all their hearts like Romagnoli, Rovella, Pellegrini should be our top priority!

  2. Lotito must go NOW! enough. Lazio is bigger than his ego. He should sell the club and get his cheap fat ass OUT!!

  3. I am a big Lazio fan since I was 7 years old. Now I am past 30 but still do not know what could be in Lotito’s head… I am simply cannot understand how could he be like an a**hole this… We Laziales are want to get back our prime time when we fought for the scudetto and won the CWC and UEFA Supercup in the 2000’s and not reading like our biggest hero(s) wants to leave us because the management has empty had… Halo, wake up! the football has changed and yeah, your egos count no more! f**k you lotito. You completely ruin the team future and digging the gap between you and the fans. We will have Sarri and Gasperini will be the head coach of other side. So it means, we will be worse then this year, can be happy if we will reach the top 10 and watching our rival is going to the CL. Simply cannot describe how disappointed I am…
