Maurizio Sarri has reportedly expressed his openness to return to Lazio for a second spell after holding talks with Claudio Lotito and Angelo Fabiani.
Marco Baroni Leaving Lazio
The Biancocelesti have identified the 66-year-old as the ideal profile to take over after deciding to part ways with Marco Baroni. The latter is expected to rescind his contract following a final meeting with the club’s officials on Tuesday. Nevertheless, the management isn’t wasting any time in their attempts to find a successor.
The Offer
Lazio have offered Sarri a three-year deal with a yearly salary of €2.5 million in addition to bonuses related to European qualification. The two parties held a meeting on Thursday night, but they weren’t able to reach a definitive agreement, so talks resumed on Friday.
Lazio & Maurizio Sarri Have an Agreement in Principle
According to La Lazio Siamo Noi, the former Napoli and Chelsea manager has given the green light to the club’s financial offer, as well as the technical project illustrated by Fabiani. The source added that Lotito himself intervene to reassure Sarri. It appears that all three men have agreed to maintain the core of the current squad while trying to reinforce the ranks.
Atalanta Competition
The report adds that the Lazio officials won’t rest on their laurels before closing the deal by signing the contract, as they realize that Atalanta are also interested in Sarri’s services, as Gian Piero Gasperini is edging closer to Roma.
Personally I’m ok with Sarri coming back. He led Lazio to runners up to Napoli if I remember well……
From Baroni a Serie B coach to the most boring tactician in football!
BRING YOUR PILLOWS TO THE CURVA RAGAZZI!
Beggars can’t be choosers. We are pretty much broke. Without CL, we will be taking Sarri and mediocre players no one really wants. Trading one stubborn coach in Baroni for another in Sarri. Sad reality.
