With the 2024/25 season now in the books, it’s time to identify the best five Lazio players throughout the campaign.

Marco Baroni Only Lasted One Season

Marco Baroni’s solitary year at Formello was a strange one, as it began with great promise, as the club was fighting on three different fronts. By the middle of the season, the Biancocelesti were only a few points away from the Serie A summit, while leaving everyone else in the dust in the 36-club Europa League group stage table.

At that stage, many punters were tempted to bet on Lazio winning something by the end of the season, which shows why it is important for betting enthusiasts to check out Freetips, the ultimate home for free bets with lots of bookies, as a second opinion from an expert can be extremely valuable to avoid committing costly mistakes.

Disappointing Finale

Unfortunately for Lazio, the squad failed to withstand the pressure of fighting on multiple fronts, so a physical and mental dip undid all the great results achieved in the first half of the season, leading to a disappointing empty-handed ending.

The Best Five Lazio Players in 24/25

But while most Lazio players fell short in the decisive run, some fared better than others. So let’s pinpoint those who we believe were the five best players based on the outcome of the entire campaign.

5. Alessio Romagnoli

While either of the two starting centre-backs could have been chosen in this spot, Mario Gila lost his edge in the final months, which blemished what remains the best campaign of his career thus far.

On the other hand, Alessio Romagnoli wasn’t always given the plaudits he deserved. Like Gila, he had his disappointing showings, but the goals he scored against Viktoria Plzen and Roma were absolutely vital for the club.

4. Nuno Tavares

Had this list been solely based on the first half of the season, Nuno Tavares would have easily seized the top spot. But sadly for the Portuguese left-back, his recurring muscle injuries halted his momentum, ruining what would been a spectacular first season in Italian football.

3. Matteo Guendouzi

While the Frenchman was seldom flashy, he landed on the podium thanks to the consistency he showcased throughout the season. By the end of the campaign, the non-stop action had taken its toll on his condition, but Guendouzi should be remembered for the energetic and influential displays he produced for the bulk of the season.

2. Nicolo Rovella

If Guendouzi was the muscle (and the hair) of the midfield tandem, then Nicolo Rovella was certainly the brain. This will go down as the campaign that saw the Italian’s status rise from a promising player to a top-notch Regista who can cope with the best.

1. Pedro

Rovella would have been a deserving winner, but Pedro defied Father Time to prove he can still make the difference when called upon. The 37-year-old managed to score 14 goals, including 10 off the bench, to mark himself as the ultimate super-sub.

Pedro isn’t only a Lazio icon, but his heroics against Inter Milan on the penultimate day of the season saw him instantly declared ‘a saint’ in Naples after granting the city a stunning Scudetto triumph.
