Lazio may have rejected Al-Hilal’s offer for Nuno Tavares, but they’re still open to selling the player for the right amount.

As we reported in recent days, the Saudi Pro League giants submitted an offer for the 25-year-old Portuguese international, as Simone Inzaghi was desperate to sign a new left-back before the start of the FIFA Club World Cup.

Why Lazio Turned Down Al-Hilal’s Offer

However, the Biancocelesti swiftly turned down the bid, which was worth €25 million in addition to €5 million in bonuses. Likewise, Al-Hilal failed in their attempts to lure Theo Hernandez from Milan and Angelino from Roma.

Nevertheless, we can confirm that Lazio’s rejection doesn’t entirely rule out a summer exit for Tavares, but merely signals the club’s desire to receive a more lucrative bid. After all, it must be remembered that the Italian capital side won’t be able to collect the full amount, since Arsenal are owed a 40% sell-on fee.

Lazio’s Request to Sell Nuno Tavares Revealed

Therefore, Lazio president Claudio Lotito and the club’s sporting director Angelo Fabiani believe that €40 million would be a fair price, so it remains to be seen if any suitors would be willing to meet this valuation.

Tavares enjoyed a brilliant start to the season after joining the Aquile last summer, providing assists for fun, but recurring muscle injuries wrecked the second half of his campaign.

  1. One of the best starters we have and they want to sell sell him.
The left side of the defense is only solid part. Think about getting rid of Lazarri and Hysaj and bring in a competent right winger.

  2. I think the management is looking at his glass legs problem.
Tavares is really good. Better than all the left backs we ever had at lazio.. honestly I feel we would keep him. Since we have less matches to play.. he would get more rest and get less injured
