Bournemouth have failed in their first attempt to sign Lazio defender Mario Gila, as their offer was turned down by the Italian capital side.
Mario Gila: A Wanted Man
Maurizio Sarri is keen to reunite with the Spanish international whom he signed back in the summer of 2022, especially after making leaps and bounds this season under Marco Baroni.
Nevertheless, the 24-year-old has several suitors on the market, even though his former club, Real Madrid, have seemingly dropped their interest after signing Dean Huijsen.

In fact, the 20-year-old’s arrival in the Spanish capital could have a major knock-on effect on Gila’s future, as Bournemouth identified the latter as the right profile to replace his younger compatriot at Vitality Stadium.
Lazio Reject Lucrative Bournemouth Bid for Mario Gila
The Cherries tried to reinvest a large chunk of the transfer fee collected from Huijsen’s sale on Gila, submitting an offer of €40 million.
However, Lazio turned down the proposal, raising high walls around their prized asset, considering him ‘unsellable’.
Of course, because half of the money goes to Real Madrid. Basically the same scenario as for Nuno Tavares. I hope they do not by any future players with these kind of constructions.
