Lazio president Claudio Lotito vows to rectify the transfer market crisis ahead of the January window while explaining the club’s plans for this unusual summer.
The Background
In recent days, shocking reports revealed that COVISOC (the body that oversees Italian clubs’ finances) have prevented the Biancocelesti from making any new signings this summer due to their poor financial status based on the figures presented in the club’s most recent half-yearly report.
Claudio Lotito Vows to Fix Unfair Situation
While the club denied this story at first through an official statement, Lotito has now all but confirmed this unpleasant situation, describing it as unfair. Hence, the Lazio patron promises to fix it ahead of January, as he mentioned in his interview with Il Messaggero (via Gianlucadiamarzio.com).
This rule cannot be kept, it does not reflect the situation of the club at the moment. This block is unjust.
If I decide to make purchases I will recapitalize, but it would make no sense because Lazio has no need for capital, nor player problems. We will fix things in January at most, that is not a problem.
We have neither the need to sell the big names nor to buy. In fact, we need to reduce the squad because we have 30 players for one competition.
Loum Tchaouna Sold to Burnley
Lotito also listed the offers he rejected for some of his key players, while confirming the sale of Loum Tchaouna for €15 million.
For Castellanos they offered me €40 million, the same for Rovella, Gila and Zaccagni. Then €35m for Tavares, €25m for Isaksen and €15m for Romagnoli.
I sold Tchaouna for €15m. But I don’t want to dismantle the team.
Although the Lazio owner didn’t mention the Frenchman’s next club, all major sources in Italian football had already identified Burnley as his next destination.
Maurizio Sarri Set to Stay at Lazio
Finally, the 68-year-old insisted that Maurizio Sarri is determined to fulfill his contract.
Sarri is fired up . He is a good person with great traits. We are both used to honoring the commitments we make. He comes from the banking world, so he knows that Lazio is a healthy, solid company.
Your word are empty. Look for children you tell stories to not a LAZiO fan . shameless president.
Sell the CLUB!!!!!!
dark times ahead boys..
I’m okay with this “problem”. We’ll play once a week next season and we have enough good players to finish in the top four. Now let’s focus on selling useless players.
Nah, no chance for Top 4 with this squad. Nessuna possibilità, zero. Napoli and Milan are going after good players like crazy. Inter are keeping themselves pretty high. Roma, Atslanta and Juve have all better players than us. We will be once again battling with Fiorentina and Bolonga for Conference League spot… Last season’s good start which hold us up for so long was piccolo miracolo that only happens once in couple of years.
sell the team, you sleazebag
Down with Lotito!
Wow, so NO new arrivals before the season? Nothing, niente, nulla? Sarri wants to play 4-3-3 and we have only two 1st team starters – Guendo and Rovella. Who will be the 3rd? 33y old Vecino? Or not so bad/not so great Dele-Bashiru? Who will substitute? What if one of them is injured? Who’s there on the bench? Signor “Cartellino Rosso” Belayahne? And then who? Will we re-introduce Basić and Akpa Akpro back to the team after years of ignoring them?
Lotito never spent much, I don’t know why Lazio are still facing so punishment. WTF, sell the club to somebody capable to bring the team to the next level, You rubbish Lotito.
What a circus …
