Lazio head coach Maurizio Sarri seems to be enjoying the progress made by his players who have been working non-stop for 10 days.
The Background
The 66-year-old made a choice of the heart when he opted to rejoin the Biancocelesti just over a year following his resignation. However, his return was spoiled by the transfer ban imposed by COVISOC, depriving him of the opportunity to bolster his squad with new players.

Nevertheless, Sarri still found himself a host of old pupils who had joined the club at his request during his first tenure between 2021 and 2024. Moreover, the Tuscan is getting to know those who arrived last season under Marco Baroni’s watch, and many of them are beginning to grow on him.
Maurizio Sarri Has Been in Pleasant Mood
As La Lazio Siamo Noi notes, the Biancocelesti boss has been satisfied with what he’s seen thus far. On Wednesday, the former Napoli and Chelsea manager had several pleasant talks with his players, namely Nuno Tavares, Matias Vecino and Adam Marusic. He was also seen joking around with Tijjani Noslin who complained about a disallowed goal during the mini-match.
Sarri Testing Several Systems
The same source also captured the highlights of Wednesday’s double training session. In the morning, the group focused on athletic and tactical work, before holding a match between the ranks in the afternoon. This time, Sarri tested several formations, mainly 4-3-1-2, 4-2-3-1, in addition to his tried-and-trusted 4-3-3.
Three Lazio Players Miss Training
Alessio Romagnoli missed both sessions due to a fever, while Boulaye Dia and Gustav Isaksen remain out. The Senegalese striker is dealing with a new ankle problem, while the Dane is suffering from mononucleosis.

4-3-1-2 is really not a bad formation at all.. gives u the option to deploy 2 attackers with a playmaker behind.. well let’s see
Dela I agree with you. With 3 guys infront of the defense we build more certainty we compared to the 4231 tactic that Baroni used. We can have Rovella, Guendo and Belahyane with Rovella being the deeplying playmaker, Guendo playing box-2-box and Belahyane as a sort of balwinning midfielder with a creative touch. Downside is we have a lot of wingers, no real no10 and not too many efficient strikers. Curious to see hoe Sarri will handle that.
