The release clauses inserted in the contracts of Lazio midfielders Matteo Guendouzi and Nicolo Rovella will expire in the next few hours.

The two stars attracted a host of suitors after impressing under Marco Baroni last season. Nevertheless, Claudio Lotito and Angelo Fabiani closed the door on any major departures this summer, as the club is unable to replace them due to the transfer ban imposed by COVISOC.

Matteo Guendouzi & Nicolo Rovella Will Stay at Lazio

However, some feared that the midfield duo could force their way out thanks to the aforementioned clauses, worth €55 million in Guendouzi’s case, and €50 million for Rovella, who was considered a potential replacement for Hakan Calhanoglu at Inter Milan when the latter seemed to be heading towards Galatasaray.

Nevertheless, these clauses are only valid until midnight on July 31, and Lazio have yet to receive an offer for either player. Hence, Maurizio Sarri can rest assured that his best two midfielders are set to stay at Formello beyond any doubt.

Inter Milan wingback Denzel Dumfries is also on the same boat, with his release clause (set at €25 million) expiring at midnight, and no offers on the horizon, despite interest from Barcelona.
