Lazio youngster Fabio Andrea Ruggeri will imminently complete a transfer to Serie B side Carrarese.

The defender started his career at Savio’s academy before joining Lazio’s youth ranks in 2019 at the tender age of 14. The Roma native cemented himself as one of the most promising talents at Formello, and eventually became the captain of the club’s Primavera team. Last season, he spent his campaign on loan at Salernitana, making 21 appearances in Serie B.
No Place at Maurizio Sarri’s Court
This pre-season, Ruggeri has been part of Maurizio Sarri’s senior squad. The versatile defender has been fielded either as a centre-back (his original role) or a full-back in training. However, with 10 first-team defenders vying for four starting roles, the Italian youngster is unlikely to find any space at Lazio this season, especially in the absence of European football.
Lazio & Carrarese Finalize Ruggeri Agreement
According to Italian journalist Alfredo Pedullà, Lazio and Carrarese have reached an agreement for the permanent transfer of the Roman centre-back. It remains to be seen if the Biancocelesti have added a buy-back option that would allow them to re-sign their former Primavera captain.
Carrarese on a Steady Rise
Carrarese have been on the rise in recent years, especially after winning the gruelling Serie C playoffs at the end of the 2023/24 campaign. The Tuscans also enjoyed a solid first season in Serie B, finishing in a comfortable 12th place at the end of the previous campaign.
Why not loan him if we think hes good enough to have a buy back??? Incompetence again. The academy though is in a sorry state; when is the last time our academy has produced for us? We seem to just bank on Roma youngsters to be Lazio fans and even then the last player i can think of that’s been a recent success is Cataldi and we cut hin loose too. The club is in a very dangerous place, the ownership needs to wake up. Or change.
