Friday’s training session at Formello bore a new injury concern for Maurizio Sarri, as Manuel Lazzari was unable to continue.

The Background

The Biancocelesti are currently without seven players who joined their national teams for the international break. These are Nicolo Rovella, Mattia Zaccagni, Fisayo Dele-Bashiru, Boulaye Dia, Christos Mandas, Elseid Hysaj, in addition to Nuno Tavares, whose late addition to the Portuguese sparked a debate among the Selecao’s supporters.

Adam Marusic Recovering from Injury

On the other hand, Adam Marusic returned prematurely from his time with Montenegro, amid injury concerns over his condition after feeling some discomfort during the 4-0 win over Hellas Verona.

But according to Il Messaggero, the 32-year-old has been showing encouraging signs in training, and the same goes for Gustav Iskasen who’s working on regaining his optimal physical shape after a long bout with mononucleosis.

Manuel Lazzari Pulls a Muscle

On the other hand, Lazio were dealt a fresh blow, as Lazzari suffered a muscle strain that put an end to his training session. The former SPAL right-back has been one of the club’s fittest players based on the results of his athletic tests, but it remains to be seen if this knock will rule him out of action.

Matias Vecino & Patric

The source also adds that Matias Vecino is still training separately, but he’s aiming to return to the squad ahead of next weekend’s Serie A contest against Sassuolo. As for Patric, he’s still lagging behind physically, so he’s highly unlikely to recover in time for the Emilian trip.
