Lazio have reportedly identified the sale of Christos Mandas as a potential means to unlock their transfer market in January.

Lazio Working on Unblocking Transfer Market

The Biancocelesti weren’t able to sign any new players in the summer, as they were blocked by a transfer ban imposed by COVISOC due to their unsettled accounts. Therefore, Claudio Lotito and Angelo Fabiani are keen to find a solution as swiftly as possible, one that would allow them to reinforce Maurizio Sarri’s squad in the middle of the campaign.

Lazio Willing to Sell Christos Mandas

According to Il Corriere della Sera (via La Lazio Siamo Noi), cashing in on Mandas could be a possible solution. After all, the 24-year-old still has a market despite being reduced to the bench this season. The Italian capital side bought the Greek goalkeeper from OFI Crete in the summer of 2023 for just over €1 million, so they could be set to make a considerable profit.

Ivan Provedel Remains Maurizio Sarri’s Ultimate First Choice

Mandas managed to usurp Ivan Provedel in Marco Baroni’s pecking order in the second half of the previous campaign, but the Italian shot-stopper was restored in the starting lineup following Maurizio Sarri’s return last summer.

While it was suggested that the Greece international would also earn a run, these plans have been delayed due to the club’s rough start to the campaign. Hence, he has yet to make an appearance this season.

Could Mandas to Wolves Finally Take Off?

Therefore, Mandas is far from happy with his current situation at Formello, and if his playing time doesn’t improve, he would relish a mid-season exit. The up-and-coming goalkeeper has been linked with a move to the Premier League in the past, with Wolves identified as one of his staunchest admirers.

The Molineux outfit currently resides at the very bottom of the EPL table, so January reinforcements should be on the agenda. As for Lazio, they have reportedly set their asking price for Mandas at €20 million.

  1. On behalf of the entire lazio management team… i would like to apologise to christos that such a safe pair of hands would be sold for a rusty goal conceding hands.

  2. I really doubt that Wolves are now looking for a keeper with Sa, Bentley and Johnstone fighting for a place and the team looking unable to secure the Premier League spot this season. Totally rubbish article from Corriere della Sera.
