Lazio boss Maurizio Sarri and his technical staff are holding their breath, as Nuno Tavares may have suffered an injury.
Lazio’s Ever-Growing Injury List
Since the start of the season, the Aquile have been hit by a peculiar number of physical problems. At the moment, Nicolo Rovella, Taty Castellanos, Luca Pellegrini, Samuel Gigot, Fisayo Dele-Bashiru and Matteo Cancellieri are all unavailable, while others have only recently recovered.
Nuno Tavares May Have Suffered a Muscle Injury
According to La Lazio Siamo Noi, Tavares didn’t take part in Thursday’s double training session, prompting major concerns over his condition. The player’s condition will be evaluated in the coming hours, but the source believes he may have pulled a muscle.

Sadly for the Portuguese, he is no stranger to muscle injuries, as he had suffered seven last season, with the majority occurring in the second half of the campaign. While the 25-year-old has thus far failed to convince Sarri with his displays, especially in the defensive phase, he has at least managed to stay healthy, so the manager would be loath to lose his services as well.
Who Would Replace Nuno Tavares Against Juventus?
If Tavares is to be ruled out of Sunday’s clash against Juventus, Lazio won’t have a natural left-back in their ranks, as Pellegrini is unlikely to recover in time. Therefore, Sarri would most likely have to shift either Adam Marusic or Elseid Hysaj to the left side, while fielding the other, or Manuel Lazzari, at right-back.
Moreover, Oliver Provstgaard could be an alternative solution, as the young Danish defender replaced Tavares at left-back in the final minutes against Atalanta last weekend.
