At the Stadio Olimpico in Rome, Lazio returned to winning at the expense of Juventus thanks to Toma Basic’s early goal. The Biancocelesti held tight at the back and absorbed the visitors’ pressure, as they ended up aggravating the Old Lady’s wounds.

While the Basic was certainly among the hosts’ best performers, some of his teammates were equally vital for the victory. So here are our ratings for every Lazio player who took part in the crucial 1-0 victory over Juventus.

Lazio XI (4-3-3)

Ivan Provedel – 6.5

Although some of his exits were dangerous, the Italian goalkeeper made some important interventions to earn his clean sheet, including denying Jonathan David from close range.

Manuel Lazzari – 5.5

The Italian had a quiet evening before making way to Pellegrini early in the second half. The fact that he was on a yellow card was probably a factor in Maurizio Sarri’s decision to haul him off.

Mario Gila – 7

Another commanding display at the back from the Spanish defender, who prevailed in his duel against Dusan Vlahovic.

Alessio Romagnoli – 7

While the crosses were raining all over Lazio’s penalty box, the former Milan captain won almost every duel in the air.

Adam Marusic – 6

A solid showing from the experienced full-back who started on the left before switching to the right in the second half. Offered little in attack, but did his role at the back.

Matteo Guendouzi – 6.5

The Frenchman outran Weston McKennie and the rest of the Juventus midfielders, who weren’t able to keep track of him in the final stages of the match.

Danilo Cataldi – 7

The Regista hardly put a foot wrong all night. picked up the loose ball and provided the assist to Basic’s winner, dictated the play in the middle of the park, and valiantly shielded the backline.

Toma Basic – 7.5

The Croatian emerged as the ultimate hero, scoring the solitary goal of the contest. He also pinned back Teun Koopmeiners, but his evening ended prematurely after suffering a cramp in the middle of the second period.

Gustav Isaksen – 7

This was a true statement performance from the Danish winger who harried the Juventus defences on the counter, and, at times, ran circles around his markers, but just lacked the finishing touch.

Boulaye Dia – 6

The Senegalese saw very little of the ball, and only threatened Mattia Perin on one occasion. However, he ran his socks off for the team, tracking back every time Juventus had the ball.

Mattia Zaccagni – 6

A professional display from the captain, who was happy to do the dirty work. He was often marked by the robust Pierre Kalulu, so he took very few risks in attack.

Substitutes

Luca Pellegrini – 6

A positive cameo from the returning left-back against his former club. Held his own against Conceicao at the back.

Matias Vecino – 6

The Uruguayan took the torch from Basic, ensuring Lazio remained solid and firm in the middle of the park.

  1. Anyone can outrun & stop that super mediocre McKennie, no offense to ‘Douzi. Let’s keep this momentum for the next matches. And did anyone see Lotito’s gesture when Basic scored? LOL …. priceless !!!!

    1. Lol! Such a sweet goal for Lazio by the previous benchwarmer Basic who stood up and proved his worth! Tasty victory when keeping in mind the injuries and this season’s ups and downs. Hope there’s more loose points to come to Lazio in the future! Keep it up!
