Lazio have reportedly set their mind on offloading Christos Mandas in the January transfer session, even though his market value has taken a hit recently.

The Background

The 24-year-old has been at the Italian capital side since the summer of 2023, when he made the move from OFI Crete for less than €1 million. In his first season in Rome, he managed to impress in the final stretch of the campaign while filling in for the injured Ivan Provedel. Last term, the young Greek usurped his older colleague in Marco Baroni’s pecking order during the final months of the season.

Nevertheless, with Maurizio Sarri back at the helm, he decided to restore Provedel as his first choice, and the latter has been responding with consistent displays between the posts, and has already registered five clean sheets in 10 appearances, including four on the trot.

Lazio Looking to Sell Christos Mandas in January

But while the initial plan was to rotate between the two shot-stoppers, the returning manager backtracked on this idea, preferring to play it safe by exclusively fielding his Italian compatriot. Therefore, Il Messaggero reveals that Lazio have now decided to sell Mandas, before his market value further plummets.

Lazio Willing to Drop Mandas’ Asking Price

As the source explains, the Biancocelesti had rejected an offer worth €12 million from Wolves back in the summer of 2024, as they believed the goalkeeper’s stock would rise even further. But on the contrary, Claudio Lotito and Angelo Fabiani have been forced to lower their asking price to €7-8 million.

Could Wolves Revive Their Interest in Mandas?

Therefore, the Moulineux outfit can snatch the Greece international on favorable terms this winter. This opportunity also extends to any other club interested in poaching a young custodian, who has already proved his worth in Serie A on multiple occasions.

  2. Once again, Wolverhampton is very solid in terms of GK’s: Jose Sa, Sam Johnstone and Dan Bentley.
Their problems are in other areas, as they don’t have a manager, they are last in the league and there is no sign to help them avoiding the relegation.
Therefore, please don’t keep this fake transfer story alive.

    1. And Netflix is building up series about Lazio. Of all clubs, they choose us.
Yeah, sometimes gossips or fake news keep the world go round.
