On Sunday, Lazio produced one of their best displays of the season thus far, and it earned them a 2-0 victory over Lecce.
The Biancocelesti took the lead through Matteo Guendouzi in the first half, but had to wait until the final minutes to kill off the match with a second goal courtesy of Tijjani Noslin. So, here are our player ratings for the Stadio Olimpico contest.
Lazio XI (4-3-3)
Ivan Provedel – 6
The Italian goalkeeper had a quiet evening, but he surprisingly set up the second goal for Noslin.
Adam Marusic – 6.5
A solid showing at the back from the Montenegrin, who came close to scoring, but was denied by Wladimiro Falcone.
Mario Gila – 6
The Spaniard likes to distribute from the back, but he overdid it at times. He left the pitch in the final minutes, potentially with an injury.
Alessio Romagnoli – 6.5
A comfortable outing from the experienced defender who kept Nikola Stulic in his pocket.
Luca Pellegrini – 6.5
The former Juventus man looked solid at the back, shutting down the threat of Tete Morente, while repeatedly darting forward to support the attacks.
Matteo Guendouzi – 7.5
The Frenchman produced his best display of the season by far. Although he was wasteful in possession in the early going, he scored the all-important opener with an off-balance finish, and was only denied a brace by the post. Completely bossed the middle of the park.
Danilo Cataldi – 6
The Lazio stalwart helped the team dominate possession and keep the ball flowing, but he seemed to be struggling with a knock towards the end of the first half, so he was taken off at the interval.
Toma Basic – 7
The Croatian looked like a man possessed from the get-go. He was the center of almost every dangerous Lazio play, including the opener, where his determination produced the assist for Guendouzi.
Gustav Isaksen – 7
An inspired display from the Dane, who set the right wing ablaze. He repeatedly dribbled past his opponents, and produced a host of chances for his teammates.
Boulaye Dia – 6.5
A significantly improved performance from the Senegalese compared with his previous outings. He was denied by an astonishing Falcone stop in the first half, and by a VAR review after the break.
Mattia Zaccagni – 6
The Lazio captain had a relatively quiet match compared with his teammates, but would have grabbed a goal if it wasn’t for the post.
