Lazio are searching the market for a new midfielder, and Maurizio Sarri would reportedly love to collaborate with Ruben Loftus-Cheek once more.
Maurizio Sarri Wants Ruben Loftus-Cheek at Lazio
The Italian tactician is keen to bring in a new player who can add quality and creativity to the middle of the park. In recent weeks, the Biancocelesti have been linked with the likes of Bologna’s Giovanni Fabbian and Torino’s Ivan Ilic. But according to Il Messaggero (via La Lazio Siamo Noi), Loftus-Cheek remains on the shortlist.
Loftus-Cheek Considered Surplus to Requirements at Milan?
As the Roman newspaper explains, the 29-year-old could be on his way out of AC Milan, especially after being eliminated from the Coppa Italia at the hands of Lazio last week. The Rossoneri aren’t taking part in any European competition this season; hence, they’re only playing in Serie A until the end of the season, which could force them to trim the squad.

The report has thus identified the Englishman as one of the players who could be on their way out of Milan, especially since he isn’t considered a regular starter for Massimiliano Allegri. The Diavolo are also keen to sign a new striker, so offloading Loftus-Cheek could help them make way for a new arrival on the wage bill.
Can Lazio Afford Loftus-Cheek?
Sarri has already worked with the midfielder at Chelsea in 2018/19, and he attempted to recruit him during his first tenure at Lazio, but to no avail. However, covering the player’s salary won’t be easy for the cash-strapped Aquile, as his reported gross salary is €5.1 million, not to mention finding a suitable formula with Milan. Hence, they might end up settling for a cheaper alternative.

Don’t waste time dreaming on someone who is too much for cheap ass Lotito to afford.
TERRIBLE PLAYER!
I beg to differ. Used right, he could be close to SMS with maybe less goal contribution and flair but a little more physicality and maybe pace. He needs the confidence of the coach to thrive and Sarri was his best ever coach in his career. I think he would turn I to an asset! When we get Rovella back(and even beforehand) alongside Basic and Guondozi it could be a great trio. I also believe he would take a salary reduction to make sure he gets to play and have a chance for the World Cup. C’mon Lotito, INVEST!!! Sell Nuno and Taty and we have Noslin up front and we need a back up
