Lazio manager Maurizio Sarri has reportedly requested the signing of Ruben Loftus-Cheek, who is equally enthusiastic about a reunion with the Italian manager.
Ruben Loftus-Cheek Already Worked With Maurizio Sarri at Chelsea
The 29-year-old is a youth product of Chelsea, but he arguably had his best campaign at Stamford Bridge when Sarri was in charge of the Blues, back in the 2018/19 season. Therefore, the two men remain fond of one another, and there has already been talks about a reunion at Lazio, whether during Sarri’s first reign at the club, or following his return last summer.
Loftus-Cheek Tempted by Lazio Move
According to Il Messaggero, Loftus-Cheek has expressed his willingness to join the Italian capital side and work under the 66-year-old once again. The Englishman currently earns circa €4 million at Milan, but he’s said to be willing to spread his salary over a longer period to push the deal through.

The box-to-box midfielder was in Massimiliano Allegri’s starting lineup in the 2-2 draw against Sassuolo on Sunday. However, he’s still considered a second choice behind Luka Modric, Adrien Rabiot and Youssouf Fofana. On the other hand, he would likely earn a regular starting spot under Sarri at Lazio.
Lazio Need a Sacrificial Lamb
However, the source warns that the Biancocelesti will only be able to partially lift the transfer ban, so they’ll have to maintain a ‘zero-cost’ market. Since selling Fisayo Dele-Bashiru and Reda Belahyane might be enough, Lazio would only be able to afford the former Chelsea man by selling one of their top players, potentially Matteo Guendouzi, who has an avid suitor in Sunderland.
Igli Tare in the Way?
The report notes another potential obstacle in the shape of Milan’s former sporting director, Igli Tare, who might not be too keen on reinforcing his old employers, but could instead prefer to keep Loftus-Cheek at Milanello.

Let him go, please
Who?
Besides Modric & Rabiot, all those players aforementioned are mediocres.
I disagree. Sarri coached all our players and Chelsea players(yes it was years ago but RLC is still in his prime) and if he is ready to let his proteje Guondozi leave he must rate RLC better or at least the same. He also likes a physical presence in midfield and coupled with Basic and Rovella/Cataldi, I see a very, very potent trio. Games are won or lost in the middle, with our defence firmly established and keeping many clean sheets, with Zaccagni and Camcellieri/Gustav and Noslin finding form I think we are set for a strong 2nd part of the season.
Lotito, GET IT DONE!!!
Selling a potential english international player makes no sense at this stage!!!! Let us wait for season 25-26 to end and then decide at that stage.
Bro, most of us here don’t support Milan so what are u on about? 😆
Makes no sense to offload RLC at this stage. Let us wait till the end of the season and then decide!!!!
That might be your view as a Milanista but we would love him to join us and I think he wants too, same with Sarri…
