Fenerbahce has suddenly emerged as a concrete destination for Lazio midfielder Matteo Guendouzi following a swift onslaught.
The Background
The Biancocelesti were expected to sign new players in January after recently lifting the transfer ban, but they’re now more occupied in selling some of their most prized assets, which might not be completely surprising given their delicate financial situation. Taty Castellanos will sign for West Ham United in the next hours, while Guendouzi could follow the Argentine to the door.
Fenerbahce Launch Onslaught for Matteo Guendouzi
In recent months, the 26-year-old has been heavily linked with Sunderland, who are coached by his former mentor, Regis Le Bris. However, Fenerbahce are the ones making the concrete step, according to Italian and Turkish sources.
Sky Sport Italia journalist Gianluca Di Marzio revealed ongoing contacts between the Istanbul-based giants and the French midfielder’s entourage, while confirming that the player is open to making the move to Turkiye.

La Lazio Siamo Noi went even further, claiming that Fenerbahce have also tabled an official offer for Lazio worth €25 million in fixed fees in addition to €2 million in bonuses. The source also believes that Guendouzi has been offered a five-year contract with a yearly net salary of €4 million, which he’s willing to accept.
Guendouzi Agrees to Join Fenerbahce?
For his part, famous Turkish journalist Yağız Sabuncuoğlu insisted that the former Arsenal and Marseille star has already reached an agreement with Fenerbahce on personal terms. The Turkish club’s emissaries are expected in Rome in the coming hours for direct talks with Lazio.
Who Could Replace Guendouzi at Lazio?
Maurizio Sarri had already requested the arrival of a new midfielder, but if Guendouzi ends up departing the club, it remains to be seen whether the manager will instead ask for multiple additions. The main targets on Lazio’s shortlist remain Milan’s Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Atalanta’s Lazar Samardzic, and Bologna’s Giovanni Fabbian.

If he leaves we need both RLC and Fabbian/Samardzic. I would love wither 2 of the 3, preferably including Ruben with any of the other two. If they pull it off, I will be considering stopping to criticise Lotito to the end of the season.(of course add to it that if Nuno leaves , he will also need to be replaced
Hell no, Guendouzi has suitors in Premier League, clubs that definitely can afford to pay near 45-50 millions. The turks can shove their offer really deep.
If Matteo should go Fabbian and Ricci should be brought in . Ricci is not getting any playing time in Milan. Let him develop here. Imagine rovellea Fabbian and ricci!
