Lazio Proposed Another Winger to Brentford When Enquiring About Cancellieri

While Brentford are reportedly keen to sign Matteo Cancellieri, Lazio suggested an alternative solution in the form of Gustav Isaksen.

Matteo Cancellieri Lands on Brentford’s Wishlist

This week, Brenford have been monitoring Cancellieri, whom they believe would be the right profile to enhance their squad. They reportedly scouted him on Wednesday against Fiorentina, and plan to do the same against Hellas Verona on Sunday. The 23-year-old has been one of Lazio’s most influential players since returning to the club in the summer following a loan spell at Parma.

Lazio Offer Gustav Isaksen to Brentford

But according to Il Tempo (via La Lazio Siamo Noi), the Biancocelesti urged Brentford to sign Isaksen instead. The Dane has been struggling for form and fitness this season, and he’s been identified as one of the players that Maurizio Sarri wouldn’t mind selling for the right price.

However, the Premier League clubs made it clear that they aren’t interested in the 24-year-old winger, but would rather buy his teammate, Cancellieri.

Cancellieri vs Isaksen

This season, Cancellieri and Isaksen are considered Sarri’s two main choices for the right-winger role. However, the manager seldom had to choose between them due to the recurring injuries and other health issues (especially in the Dane’s case). Moreover, both players will start against Verona on Sunday due to Mattia Zaccagni’s absence, with one of them switched to the left flank.
